Dear adjunct faculty,
This year in Montana, October brings with it not only falling leaves but snow(!) and a chill to the air that shouts “winter is almost here”! I hope you are all well and having a great semester! As we head toward the middle of the semester, there are a few things to remember or to be aware of:
· I sent out an email earlier about the change in my office location. I am now located directly across from the adjunct office and conference room in R270/R273! Please feel free to stop in if you are on campus! I really enjoy getting to know more about all of you. I also enjoyed visiting the Bozeman campus and meeting the adjunct faculty who work there!
· Mark Plante was elected as the adjunct faculty representative on Academic Senate. Thank you to all who took the time to vote. I have passed along suggestions to the Senate Chair, that in future elections candidates be required to submit a short message about themselves, as it is very difficult to vote if you do not know much or anything about the candidates. Thank you all for your feedback on this. Please keep it coming!
· Letters of Appointment will be out very soon for spring semester 2009. The process surrounding how courses are assigned, when letters are received and pay (based on receipt of the letters from you) has changed. If you will be teaching during spring semester 09, you should be receiving a Letter of Appointment very soon. Please adhere to the deadline for return, listed on the letter.
· The adjunct office and conference room now have keypads installed! The code is 13579. If the code changes, I will let you know. Please do not give out this code to students.
· Midterm grades will be due around the end of the month. Tom Degel should be sending out an email to you with instructions on how to submit midterm grades electronically, in our Banner system. If you are using WebCT, this is also a great time to clean up the roster that appears in your course shell. If you have questions on how to do this, please feel free to contact me.
· Email glitches- there have been a few minor glitches this semester and some difficulties in accessing msugf email. The most recent difficulties were caused by a broken link from the homepage. During times like this, it is important to know the direct link to the web email access, which is www.msugf.edu/exchange. If you run into problems accessing your email account, please place a call to the helpdesk at 771-4433. Be prepared to have your 8 digit ID # ready (you can find this in Banner under Faculty information).
That’s it for now. Thank you for all you do to help MSU – Great Falls fulfill our student-centered mission! I look forward to seeing or hearing from you as the semester progresses. Call, email or stop by any time!
