Dear returning adjunct faculty,

It is that time of year again!  Time to gear up for the fall 2010 semester! I’m not sure about you, but the summer sure seemed to fly by for me!

As there always seem to be changes, there are a few major changes in store for fall semester that need your attention:

The first noteworthy change is that there will be no required adjunct orientation this semester. Instead, you’ll be expected to be connected to your divisions, reading updates and reminders through monthly newsletters and asking questions and for support as you need it through the semester. You will hopefully be receiving invitations from your divisions to attend some gatherings as well and will have ample opportunity to attend faculty development sessions (free to you, some with free lunch!)  during the semester if you choose. As returning adjuncts that have already completed the required orientations of the past, you should be well-acquainted with the specifics related to your job with MSU – Great Falls already. You will be sent updates regarding policies and information in the monthly adjunct newsletters that come from me via email.  However, if you have questions you can contact me or your division(s) for help and support at any time.

The second change you should know about is that the Director of Adjunct Instruction position has become a half-time position (which means I’ll be here half the time as I previously have been- this is related to my most recent addition to the Schrenk family). My schedule will vary depending on the week, but I will try to maintain one that is as consistent as possible.

Upcoming professional development opportunities will be posted on the adjunct webpage. And, you’ll continue to have access to the latest version of the Success Strategies for Student-Centered Teaching: Part 1 course in D2L (if you are still interested in completing that course for a stipend/CEU’s, please contact me).

There will be some other changes coming along, regarding evaluations and other policy changes, as we head into the semester. I’ll keep you posted as those happen.

Wishing you productivity in your planning and prepping time, a wonderful remainder of the summer and a successful start to the fall 2010 semester!

Sincerely,

Kim Schrenk
