Dear summer instructors,

I want to wish you a great start to the summer semester at MSU – Great Falls College of Technology. For some of you, summer semester started in May and for others, it started today! I have a few updates and reminders as the summer semester gets going:

Changes

As the summer semester progresses, we will be a campus of many changes- our biggest change will be bidding farewell to our Dean/CEO Dr. Mary Sheehy-Moe and a welcome to the interim Dean/CEO, Joe Schaffer! Information about further changes will be announced via email, so stay tuned in!

You also may have heard that I have been hired as the Director of Adjunct Instruction. I am very happy to serve in this capacity after living the “adjunct life” for 5+ years and filling in on a interim basis during the last academic year.  My contact information remains the same so if you need anything, please let me know! (406-771-4422; office located in G18).

Summer Orientation

Returning adjunct instructors who have completed either the fall 2007 or spring 2008 adjunct orientation do not need to complete the orientation for the summer. If you would like a refresher, the returning adjunct orientation link on the adjunct faculty webpage will bring you up-to-date.

All new adjunct instructors, or returning adjunct instructors who have not completed either the fall 2007 or spring 2008 adjunct orientation, will be required to complete the new adjunct online orientation for summer and submit the verification form once completed. To receive a stipend for completing the orientation, it needs to be completed no later than June 16, 2008.

Those needing to complete the orientation will be sent a separate email with directions, which will follow this newsletter shortly. If you have questions about whether you need to complete the orientation, please contact me. The new adjunct orientation can be found on the adjunct faculty webpage.

Other Stuff

Please remember to check your campus email address for news and important information. We prefer that you use your campus email account or WebCT for all electronic correspondence with students, so we may maintain compliance with FERPA.

There are 4 pay dates for summer semester: June 20, July 3, July 18 and August 1. Pay stubs and local checks are no longer mailed out (use Banner Web to view pay information), so if you do not have direct deposit and live in the area, you will need to stop in and pick up your paychecks.

For those of you who are new instructors with us, I will be contacting you shortly to schedule a teaching evaluation of your class. The summer semester ends on July 25 and grades are due almost immediately following on July 28, 2008! Tom Degel will be emailing information to your campus email account when the end of the semester gets closer.

And of course, last but not least, have a wonderful summer semester!

Kim Schrenk
