LOCAL ANESTHESIA SEMINAR
Montana State University, Great Falls – College of Technology is offering Administration of Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygiene Practitioners. This course is a review of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and emergency procedures as they relate to the administration of local anesthesia and thus is offered to dental hygienists who have already graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program and are interested in obtaining anesthesia licensure.
A full didactic overview will be given with emphasis on material necessary for the WREB anesthesia examination. Selection of proper anesthetic solutions to facilitate pain management and specific related needs of patients are included Laboratory session will incorporate didactic material and will focus on the required WREB injections, protocol, and proper administration of local anesthetic utilizing partners.
This course will include 12 hours of didactic instruction and 4 hours of clinical experience. Pre-study objectives and reading materials will be mailed to participants prior to the course. Due to the Pre-study hours, didactic hours and clinical hours a total of 52 CE units will be offered for this course.

Prerequisites: Proof of dental hygiene licensure (in any state), current CPR card, proof of malpractice insurance, photo identification, and computer with CD ROM drive, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a media player which can view AVI files, such as Windows Media Player (Windows PC) or Quick Time (Macintosh PC) to complete required pre-study materials.
