Fort Harrison Veterans Administration Hospital Dental Clinic
Senior students have the opportunity to travel to Helena, Montana twice on a Monday the last year of the program. Under the supervision of Marge Foran, RDH BA students provide dental hygiene treatment to out patient Veterans. Students enjoy this experience because of the one on one instruction Ms. Foran offers on all aspects of patient treatment.
Family Dental Center Rotation
Students will have the opportunity to experience a general dentistry office, Family Dental Center, Dr Bruk Weymouth and Gene Bollwitt have offered students a rotation in their offices. Students will have an opportunity to observe client care process from start to finish. In addition, participate with front office management, EagleSoft, and dental coding. Students may be asked to assist the dental team during patient care.
MSU-Great Falls College of Technology Dental Clinic
Students will have a chance to participate in a restorative dental clinic experience under the program’s supervising dentist, Dr. Bonnie Lederman. The student’s primary role will to be to assist the dentist and dental assistant students during various dental procedures. They will be responsible for all the duties expected of a dental assistant/ dental hygienist. This may include; unit set-up and tear down, instruments set-up and 4 handed dentistry. Student will maintain infection control and OSHA recommendations.Other Possible Externships (dependent of student interest): Periodontic, Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Hospital dentistry, Box Elder Sealant Program, Orthodontics and Great Falls Clinic Cancer Care Center
Students may have the opportunity to explore other dental specialties based on a special interest. Written requests for other experiences should be submitted with an explanation to your Advisor. Offices will be contacted by advisor if there is interest and a rotation will be requested. These rotations may be incorporated in the students learning contract.
