For the past year, Big Sky Pathways, assisted by career/technical education leadership at the Office of Public Instruction and the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education, have explored options for revitalizing the articulation process for tech prep/dual credit in our areas. I am proud to announce that we are moving forward with the much-anticipated new process for articulating tech prep/dual credit. Please note the following:
- Effective July 1, 2009, all current Tech Prep articulation agreements will be retired. Although high schools may not offer tech prep credit for these courses until new articulation agreements are signed, postsecondary institutions should continue to honor Tech Prep credits earned prior to July 1, 2009.
- New tech prep/dual credit agreements are being crafted and will be available by October 1, 2009.
- Although most courses from the previous Tech Prep consortia have not been active, there are some that were. These courses are being given first priority for articulation in the new process. It is our goal to have new articulation agreements in place for these courses by October 1, 2009.
- When a statewide articulation agreement becomes available for a particular course, an announcement will be posted on the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education’s website at http://mus.edu/twoyear/default.asp.
- There will be a presentation on the new articulation process at the Montana ACTE Conference in Billings on October 14-16.
