Web Development

As a professional web developer, you will design, develop and maintain Internet sites for your employer or for other clients. The profession requires creativity and interpersonal skills, as well as technical knowledge.

Web developers use their creativity and interpersonal skills to determine the image their employer or client wants to convey and how the web site needs to function. A good web developer creates an Internet face for a business that attracts Internet traffic, loads quickly, has a pleasing balance of graphics and text, is easy to navigate and adheres to web design and disability access standards and laws.

MSU-Great Falls Program
You will begin learning general concepts about computers, database management, how to troubleshoot problems on a PC and how to support other computer users. You then will learn about networks and basic programming, progressing to web-specific programming. Learning web page design and electronic spreadsheets will round out your knowledge and skills, preparing you to handle most tasks you will be asked to perform on the job.

Job Opportunities
Rapidly changing technology is increasing the level of skill and education demanded by employers. The explosive growth in electronic commerce, the availability of information and the continuing need to communicate with employees, clients and consumers is fueling demand for Web Developers familiar with the latest technology.

Web developers can work in corporations, hospitals, law and accounting firms, schools, and any business or home that relies on computer technology. Other web developers work in all the above settings and more as independent contractors or start their own web development businesses
