STUDENT EMAIL

As a student at MSU–Great Falls College of Technology you will be expected to check your student email account at least two times a week. Email communication will be used as an official means of communication to students from MSU–Great Falls.

Google Email

Based on student feedback, and with the active involvement of many current students, The MSU Campuses have adopted Google to provide e-mail services to all students (plus calendaring and document sharing). This promises to greatly enhance the functionality of student e-mail and other e-services. To make this transition go smoothly, there are a few things you should do as soon as possible (see bottom of message).

Here is what you need to know:

  1. You have been assigned a new e-mail address of the form firstname.lastname@my.msugf.edu. All e-mail sent to this address is directed to your new Google account. You will get to keep this account even after you are no longer an MSU Great Falls student.

NOTE: your firstname.lastname portion of your email address will be identical to your MyPortal username
    .

Your new email address format is:

    first.last@my.msugf.edu*

  2. To access your new Google account, you need to retrieve your new MSU NetID and log on to the account (see instructions below).

  3. Your @my.msugf.edu address is now your official e-mail address for all MSU Great Falls business. This includes billing statements, and other official communications.

  4. You can set forwards from within your new Google account or merge this account with existing G-mail accounts.

  5. The netID@msugf.edu shown when you log in to Gmail is NOT your email address, it is simply your account name for Google.

* Those who share a common first-last name may have a number appended to it like this: jane.doe2@msu.montana.edu

-------------------------------------------------------------

To set up your account, you should do the following as soon as possible:

  1. Go to http://mail.msugf.edu
  2. Retrieve your NetID
  3. Activate your new Google account
  4. Set any forwards or merges you want (using standard g-mail functions)

If you have questions or problems you should consult the Frequently Asked Questions, you may also contact the helpdesk for if you need additional assistance.

Special Note: When changing your password on the account credentials page, it is recommended that you set your password to be the same as your MyPortal account password. You may change BOTH accounts at the same time while doing this process by selecting both the NETID and MyMSU Portal checkboxes.

You cannot change your MSU–Great Falls domain password from this location.

You can learn more about the NetID Here
