MSU-Great Falls Facility Expansion

You are invited to join us for the Grand Opening of the new Construction and Industrial Trades Building on September 4th from 5 to 7 pm.

The facility currently housing the Montana State University – Great Falls College of Technology was constructed in 1976. To accommodate enrollment growth, the facility was renovated and eleven additional classrooms were added in 1999. In 2005,
$11 million was allocated through HB 540 for facilities expansion and renovation to accommodate community workforce needs and growing enrollment. Additional funds were awarded by the legislature, allowing for the completion of the Construction and Industrial Trades building.

Classrooms, Science Labs, a new Library, Distance Learning Center and Atrium are now open to students and the public.

Student Central provides a One Stop Student Shop for advising, financial aid, admissions, records and student accounts. Representatives from the Student Assistance Foundation and the Educational Opportunity Center are available in this area.

Newly remodeled accessible restrooms are available near the Dental Clinic. Remodeling is complete in the COTtage Bookstore - if you haven't visited campus lately, make this a 'must see.' It is beautiful.

Currently in the 'remodel stage' are Instructional Technology (IT) offices, the server room and KGPR Public Radio.

The Outreach and Workforce Development Department and College Relations and Advancement are now co-located in the 'old' Library space. The area includes offices for 9 staff plus three specialized classrooms. A classroom to accommodate the REACH program which is televised instruction providing the Practical Nursing curriculum to rural Montana is housed in this area.

The Construction and Industrial Trades building is moving forward with both the high bay entrances and classroom/office entrances completed. The concrete has been placed and Kyle Gillespie has been hired as the Program Director. Gillespie will start the Welding Program in Fall of 2008. Pat Schoenen has been hired as the Program Director of the new Carpentry program. Both programs are open for student enrollment. Classes begin on September 2nd.

Landscaping around the new facility looks wonderful. Trees, lawns, and ornamental grasses have been planted.
