Admissions - New Student Registration and Orientation
Degree seeking students will attend a STAR (STudent Advising and Registration) session with a Student Central advisor to register for their first semester of courses. These sessions are scheduled at various times for the student’s convenience. Distance learning students can complete these sessions online and with a follow up phone appointment with a first semester advisor. After the student is accepted to the College they will receive a letter directing them to call to schedule their STAR session. Preferably the student will have completed placement testing (ACT/SAT or COMPASS) and have those scores sent to MSU-Great Falls if tests are taken elsewhere, prior to the STAR session. Students can call the college to sign up to take the COMPASS test if they do not have ACT or SAT scores, or transfer work in English and math. A New Student Orientation Day will be held before each fall and spring semester. Additional information on the activities of this day will be given to the students during their STAR session.
Student Identification Card
Each student should obtain a nontransferable identification card. The identification card may be necessary when purchasing books, cashing checks in the bookstore and using the library. Students can replace a lost identification card through Student Accounts in Student Central for $5.
