Through our partnership with the Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program
(MGSLP ), you can compare lenders and review lender benefits and sign a Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronically using your PIN from the Department of Education.. This is the PIN used to sign a FAFSA form electronically. If you do not have a PIN issued from the Department, you can apply for one here.
Have the following information available when you complete your MPN:

Social Security Number

Department of Education PIN (from the FAFSA)

Driver’s License Number

E-mail address
-
Complete Address, including phone number

Name and address of two separate references. References must have a different address and reside in the U.S. First reference should be a parent or legal guardian.
Instructions for Students:
A Master Promissory Note need only be filed by first time borrowers and those changing lenders, so if you have already signed a note, you DO NOT need to sign another.
To complete and sign the on-line MPN:
- Go to the FASTChoice link at the left
- Create an account on FASTChoice
- Select Stafford Tab
- Review lender information and choose your lender by selecting "Apply Now"
- Provide all requested information
- Sign the MPN electronically with your Department of Education PIN (used on the FAFSA) OR,
- Follow the instructions to print out the MPN and mail it to MGSLP at the address provided
Instructions for Parents:
A PLUS loan pre-approval/Master Promissory Note must be filed each aid year.
To complete and sign the on-line preapproval/MPN:
- Go to the FASTChoice link at the left
- Create an account on FASTChoice
- Select Parent PLUS Tab
- Review lender information and choose your lender by selecting "Apply Now"
- Provide all requested information
- Sign the MPN electronically with your Department of Education PIN (used on the FAFSA) OR,
- Follow the instructions to print out the MPN and mail it to MGSLP at the address provided
NOTE: Be sure to add the student ID number with your email for quicker responses.
