What are the refund dates?
Refund Dates 2008-2009

NOTE: Federal regulations require that first time students at MSU Great Falls College of Technology have loan proceeds held until after the 30th calendar of the term.

What is Entrance Counseling?

Entrance Counseling is a loan counseling session for first time borrowers at MSU - Great Falls College of Technology. If you have accepted a student loan you must attend an entrance counseling at MSU - Great Falls College of Technology.

How many credits do I have to take to get Financial Aid?

You only need to take 6 credits to receive Financial Aid.

How many credits are considered Full-Time?

12 credits is considered Full-Time even in the summer!

What do I do if I receive a scholarship?

Contact the Financial Aid Office.

Can I charge my books in the Bookstore?

Yes. You will get a letter in the mail about two weeks before classes begin. The letter will tell you when you can charge and how much money you will be able to spend.

What happens if my Financial Aid does not cover my bill to the school?

Any tuition, fees or book charges not covered by your financial aid must be paid by you by the payment deadline. Payment arrangements can be made with the Business Office for any tuition and fees that are not covered. Any books not covered by Financial Aid must be paid for at the time of purchase.

What happens if my Financial Aid is more than I owe the school?

If your Financial Aid is more than your costs for tuition, fees and books, you will receive a refund to help with living expenses. If you are eligible for a refund it will be available on the posted refund dates.

Can I be Independent when filling out my Financial Aid forms?

The only way to become independent when filling out your Financial Aid applications is by meeting one of the following criteria:

  • Born before January 1, 1984
  • Married
  • Have legal dependants who receive more than half of their support from you.
  • A veteran of the armed forces.
  • An orphan or ward of the court until age 18
  • Working on a degree beyond a bachelor's degree

Contact the Financial Aid Office and they can discuss any other options that may be available to you.

What other forms will I need to be prepared to provide?

You will need to provide a signed copy your FEDERAL income tax return, and your spouse's or parent's (if required) as well as any other documents requested by the Financial Aid Office.
